‘The Three Musketeers’ slated for April 15 2011 release

Way before principal photography’s even gotten underway, Summit has according to Collider.com already set an initial release date for Paul W.S. Anderson’s upcoming 3D adventure, The Three Musketeers: April 15 2011. From the source:

We have two quick release-date stories for you. First up, Summit has set Paul W.S. Anderson’s 3D adaptation of The Three Musketeers for April 15, 2011. This will put it up against Wes Craven’s Scream 4. As we reported earlier today, Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin will join Emma Roberts in the slasher flick along with original stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette.

However, Musketeers has a pretty killer line-up. Christoph Waltz, Mads Mikkelsen, Milla Jovovich, and Orlando Bloom are all playing villains in the film. Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) will play the lead role of D’Artagnan with Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone), Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans), and Matthew Macfadyen as the trio of musketeers.

With filming beginning late this August in Germany, the production schedule sounds all around tight, especially for a 3D film. Good news for us, though, if only they manage to keep to it!

Style.it: Milla Jovovich posa per ‘Vanity Fair’

The Fashion Spot for the heads-up, looks like we have another magazine feature to look forward to!

According to the Vanity Fair Italia homepage, Milla Jovovich was photographed for the magazine by French photographer Fabrice Dall’Anese at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival last week. Although her portrait is as-of-yet unpublished in print, it’s already up on their website in medium-res, and is likely to be featured in the upcoming June 2010 issue of the magazine; as some will recall, Milla was photographed by Dall’Anese for a similar-type festival feature during her 2008 Cannes Film Festival visit, the resulting portrait of which was featured in the June 2008 issue of the Italian publication.

and the below embedded behind-the-scenes video from the Vanity Fair Italia homepage @ Style.it:

New L’Oréal Infallible, Color Riche, Youth Code TV commercials

Inspired by the news of Milla’s various recent modeling gigs for the French cosmetics giant L’Oréal Paris, we decided to do a bit of YouTube-ing for her commercials — and with neat results. Check out these four recent or at least to us new/unseen Milla Jovovich commercials for the brand, as embedded below.

Kicking things off with one of the newest commercials, Milla is featured in a new, French-language L’Oréal Infallible Lipstick TV spot. This is the commercial Milla was spotted filming in Paris, France last March:

Another new commercial that’s currently being featured on at least European television is this one for L’Oréal’s Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Daycream. So far, only a Greek version of the TV spot has surfaced online, but I, for one, here in Finland have seen an English-language version of the same one on TV and will try and grab it for the site. Meanwhile, here’s the advert in Greek:

In slightly older, but still fresh commercials, here’s another French Infallible TV spot from last year, this time promoting the Infallible Make-Up Foundation:

Last but not least, here’s a TV spot promoting the L’Oréal Color Riche lipsticks that at least looks recent, though it’s difficult to estimate exactly when this was shot. French model-actress Laetitia Casta co-stars. In French:

According to the article, scenes are also being shot at the Norwood Community Centre. Writer/director Magnat has also posted a couple of great pictures from shooting the film on his Facebook page, here and here. Two new set photos of Milla have been uploaded to our gallery.

According to the movie press release published on Bloody-Disgusting.com, principal photography will wrap June 13. Milla stars in Faces in the Crowd as face-blind woman Anna Marchant opposite Julian McMahon, Michael Shanks, Sarah Wayne Callies, Anthony Lemke, Marianne Faithfull, Sandrine Holt and Valentina Vargas.

More coverage from the Tommy Hilfiger BHI Bag Madrid Launch

Big, big update from last Thursday’s Tommy Hilfiger Breast Health International Limited Edition Bag Madrid Launch today!

First off, we have a few reports from the event. Interesting report #1 from ThinkSpain.com:

Actress and model Milla Jovovich presented the latest Tommy Hilfiger handbag in Madrid this week, the sales of which will fund cancer care. Having lost some female friends to the disease, it is a cause very close to Milla’s heart.

The Ukraine-born star is taking a couple of years off from her fast-paced career to care for the her daughter, Ever, two-and-a-half, after finishing filming her latest movie, Dirty Girl, with Juno Temple and William H. Macy and the next one she has lined up, the thriller Faces in the Crowd, which will be ready by July. She has already filmed Resident Evil: Afterlife, the fourth in the saga, which will be in the cinemas in September. [...] And in October, her recent work, Stone, in which she co-stars with Robert de Niro and Edward Norton, will be premiered. “It’s been a crazy year,” Milla told reporters in Madrid.

She says Spain is one of her favourite countries and Madrid is becoming an ‘emerging fashion capital’. Although Milla was born in Ukraine, she considers Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband, mother and daughter, to be her true home.

“I’ve been lucky to be able to forge a professional career doing what I most love,” revealed Milla. “I’ve always worked to improve what I do every day. I don’t know whether I’m an example of that, but I certainly adore my work,” the screen-star and model told reporters.

New Resident Evil Afterlife With Chris, Claire, and Alice

Three new photos have been released for the upcoming sequel Resident Evil Afterlife that features Milla Jovovich returning as the franchise hero, Alice. This time she’s once again joined by Claire Redfield who brings along her older brother Chris. Chris’ presence in the fourth film is interesting because he appears in the very first Resident Evil video game. What took him so long to join the party? Check out the photos below… The official plot synopsis for the film has yet to be released but it will probably center on Alice and her buddies taking down the infamous company responsible for the zombie epidemic once and for all.

Is it just us, or are these some of the most well dressed vigilante fighters you’ve ever seen? Their outfits look more fashion than military but since this is a movie, we’ll let it slide. As for the addition of Chris Redfield, we’re happy to see him but we’re not sure if Wentworth Miller will be able to live up to our expectations. Chris is the original badass in the video game along with Jill Valentine (can we get her back please?). Do you think he can pull this off? Resident Evil: Afterlife is directed by Paul WS Anderson and will hit theaters on September 10, 2010.

Rumor: Milla to star in Famke Janssen’s directorial debut?

p align="left">More rumored film roles! According to Screen Daily, Milla Jovovich will star in X-Men-actress Famke Janssen’s upcoming directorial debut, Bringing Up Bobby:

Here in Cannes, Bankside is also handling Bringing Up Bobby, the directorial debut of actress Famke Janssen that will star Milla Jovovich. (This is a crime drama about a con artist who will do anything for her 10-year-old son.) Janssen also wrote the screenplay and is producing. Shooting begins in the late summer with delivery due in early 2011.

Milla’s official site has as of yet not confirmed her involvement in the film, however, and shooting beginning late Summer sounds a little suspect in light of the already confirmed Three Musketeers reportedly beginning filming this August. But as always, we’ll keep you posted on any developments.

Milla Jovovich for Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet campaign

Mercedes-Benz is making a concerted effort to reach out to younger consumers. Case in point: its global campaign, rolling out this week, which promotes the E-Class Cabriolet with model/actress Milla Jovovich in a colorful headpiece by avant garde hat designer Philip Treacy. It's the latest feather in its cap as Mercedes woos millennials, a choosy cohort it's been actively researching since 2008. That's when the brand launched Generation Benz, a private online community to engage Gen Y in conversation and feedback about the brand. The luxury auto brand has been approaching that fickle group with a soft-sell research approach it's calling “customer intimacy” – a relationship that goes deeper than traditional research. According to Steve Cannon, VP of marketing for Mercedes-Benz, the tactic creates brand disciples and advocates as it engages the next generation of car buyers. "I'm talking about getting that much closer to your customer -- that makes some of our ways of targeting them look Stone Age,” Cannon said at the recent Association of National Advertisers' Brand Innovation Conference in New York. "We have actually taken money away from things like focus groups and the like and moved it to these new programs." In the brand's attempts to woo the 16-33 year-old demographic, which Cannon calls "digital natives," he says, "We asked them questions like, what do you think of brands, who do you turn to for decisions, what kind of TV do you watch -- so we were getting rich sets of data. What I love about this is, it's quick, easy and so comfortable for them. They just hang that camera in front of their face and talk to us." They also offer an M-B Advisors program where regular live chats and group feedback help tailor television spots and tweak product performance. It was this group that convinced the company to not succumb to "Luxury Shame" as the economy was sliding downwards - so they listened, and launched the E Class. The brand is savvy about social media and has its own YouTube channel, Facebook page, and a shiny new app for iPhones and the iPad. It doesn’t hurt that Warner Bros. upcoming release of Sex and the City 2 on May 27th is Mercedes-saturated, showcasing four models next to the four SATC models: Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda. As Cannon observed, "Based on the success of the first movie and its ability to attract trendsetters and style-makers, Sex and the City 2 is a natural fit for Mercedes-Benz. The movie provides a great stage for us; it showcases our new eco-friendly flagship S-Class, ruggedly sophisticated G-Class and ultra luxury Maybach line in their natural elements. It also perfectly positions the new E-Class Convertible just as it arrives in showrooms."

Milla to star in Punjabi gangster movie ‘Beeba Boyz’?

Several Indian online news sources are reporting Milla Jovovich has signed on opposite John Abraham in Beeba Boyz, an upcoming Deepa Mehta-directed film about Punjabi gangsters. As of yet, this has not been confirmed by official sources, so for the time being please take the following article from Times of India with a pinch of salt:

It took some months of discussions with director Deepa Mehta, but John Abraham has been finalised to play the lead opposite sexy Ukrainian [Milla Jovovich].

Milla was signed by Deepa to shoot in April 2010 for Beeba Boyz, a film on Punjabi gangsters. Milla apparently liked John’s performance in some film and evinced interest in working with him, so Deepa decided to cast him in Beeba Boyz. However, John had major date issues. Rather than sign someone else, Deepa has decided to wait for John’s dates – so she’ll first complete Midnight’s Children and then return to Beeba Boyz.

This delay also gives John a chance to prepare for his role as a Punjabi gangster and learn Punjabi. Says Deepa, “John was always my first choice for the part. Ever since we did Water, we’ve been waiting to work together again. Beeba Boyz is perfect for John. I need someone who will look menacing but attractive, sexy and earthy, speaking those Punjabi lines fluently.”

Deepa is sure John can pull off the Punjabi dialogues. “When I did Water with John, no one thought he could speak Sanskritized Hindi. But he worked hard on it. John will be able to do the Punjabi lines very well. Most importantly, John and Milla Jovovich would look so good together.”

John, apparently, was the only Indian actor Milla knew about. Says Deepa, “She asked about John the minute I offered her my film. I think she had seen John’s film and loved him in it.” John too seems as excited about working with Milla as with Deepa Mehta. “Yes, Deepa and I have met about the project with Milla. I’m doing it. We’ve sorted out the dates issues. I’m really fond of Deepa. I think we did something special in Water. We’ll do it again.”

Again, please bear in mind all this is very much a rumor only. If true, we’re sure an official source will confirm Milla’s involvement soon; as always, we’ll keep you posted either way.

NBC Connecticut: ‘Zoolander 2′ in the works

NBC Connecticut reports a sequel to the 2001 cult comedy Zoolander is happening. The Ben Stiller-directed original starred not only Stiller himself but also Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell and Christine Taylor, not to mention Milla Jovovich as the hilarious Russian caricature, Katinka, and although the film’s theatrical release fared poorly at the time ,the film has made revenue in DVD sales and rentals and has since developed a solid fan following.

From NBC Connecticut:

Justin Theroux, who had a hand in writing both Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2, is heading to Fashion Week in Paris to prepare to write the Zoolander sequel. Ben Stiller, star, director and co-writer of the original, is working on a new script with Theroux, who plans to “immerse himself on what is current in fashion,” a source has told Deadline Hollywood.

As of yet, this hasn’t been officially confirmed, nor whether or not any of the original cast (including Milla) have plans to or interest in reprising their roles in the upcoming film, or if they have even been approached on the matter. However, some may recall Milla briefly touching upon the sequel in an interview for the September 2009 issue of US Maxim as follows:

Do you ever watch your old movies?
I actually saw Zoolander the other day. It was funny, man. I heard something about a sequel, and if they do it, I really hope they bring back Katinka.

As of yet, this isn’t even really much of a project rumor but we’ll keep you posted nonetheless. After all, who knows…

New movie: Milla to star in ‘The Three Musketeers’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Milla Jovovich has signed on hubby Paul W.S. Anderson’s latest project, a 3D film adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers. The source reports Milla will be portraying Milady opposite Ray Stevenson, Matthew Macfadyen, Christoph Waltz and Mads Mikkelsen, and will begin filming already this August.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Summit Entertainment has picked up U.S. distribution on Paul W.S. Anderson’s upcoming 3D swashbuckler The Three Musketeers. Summit, which also is selling the Constantin Film/Impact Pictures project worldwide in Cannes, plans to bow Three Musketeers next summer. To meet that tight delivery date, Anderson has pushed up principle photography by a month and will start shooting the film in August.

“We recognize the blockbuster potential of The Three Musketeers, so summer 2011 is the ideal window,” said Constantin exec Martin Moskowicz, who will have an executive producing credit on the film. “It means we have to start filming a month earlier than planned, but we are ready to shoot.” Anderson is in a race to get his Musketeers on the screen ahead of Warner Bros.’ rival project, which Doug Liman is on board to direct. The Warner take on the classic Alexandre Dumas tale is looking to begin shooting in the fall

Ray Stevenson (The Book of Eli), Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans) and Matthew Macfadyen (Robin Hood) are attached to star as Musketeers Porthos, Aramis and Athos, respectively. The film’s baddies include Oscar winner Christoph Waltz as Cardinal Richelieu and Mads Mikkelsen as Rochefort. Anderson’s wife, Milla Jovovich, has been cast as Athos’ old flame Milady de Winter. Anderson and his Impact Pictures partner Jeremy Bolt will produce “Three Musketeers” together with Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer. Andrew Davies and Alex Litvalk wrote the screenplay.

Milla Jovovich’s official site has already confirmed the news.

This is big news! The casting sounds all around pretty spectacular, and we’re very happy to see Milla and Paul’s collaboration on Afterlife went so well that they were not afraid to pursue another project together — counting in Resident Evil (2002), this will be their third film as director and star respectively. Congrats!

GTTV WonderCon Special, Crave Online ‘Afterlife’ set visit

Milla Jovovich was featured a couple of days ago on Spike’s GameTrailers TV in their WonderCon Special. As most of you will know, Milla, writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson and co-star Ali Larter presented the teaser trailer for the upcoming film some weeks ago at the San Francisco convention. Here’s the clip (scroll to about 3/4 of the clip for the Afterlife segment):

In related news, Crave Online have posted (yet) another Afterlife set visit, in which Milla not only talks about Alice and the film, but also makes this very interesting mention of her upcoming films, Dirty Girl and Stone:

Q: What’s next for you?
Milla Jovovich: Well, I’ve got a movie that I’m working on right now called Dirty Girl which is fun. It’s a comedy, not an adult film, okay? It’s with a child. I’m working with a child. I’m working with Juno Temple, Mary Steenburgen, Bill Macy, Tim McGraw, a really wonderful cast of people, really fun. I play Juno Temple’s mom which is really funny. I’m like an Oklahoma girl that had a baby at 16. Stone, which is pretty crazy, man. I just watched it the other night actually. It’s not for everybody but it’s a pretty crazy movie. It’s very tense, very dramatic, just deep. It’s about a man who’s in prison and he’s trying to convince his parole officer to pretty much say, “Look, I’ve done my time. Are you the only one that can judge me? How can you judge me? You’ve never done anything wrong.” It’s really talking about good and evil and where we stand in life.
